How to Measure for Artificial Turf

A clean square-footage estimate is the foundation of every accurate turf quote. Here's the framework we use to keep measuring simple.
Step 1 — break the area into rectangles
Even irregular yards can usually be broken into 2–4 rectangles. Measure length × width for each and add them up.
Step 2 — apply a waste factor
Most simple rectangle installs add a 10% waste factor. Complex layouts with curves, multiple seams, or trim around obstacles often add 15% or more.
Step 3 — think about roll widths
Most turf products ship in 12' or 15' wide rolls. The wider the roll, the fewer seams — but you may end up trimming more. Our team will spec the most efficient roll width for your layout.
